“Well, brothers, when shall we begin to do good?”

—St. Philip Neri

The Priestly Oratory

The Oratory is, firstly, a form of communal life for priests, first established by St. Philip Neri in the sixteenth century, and brought into the English-speaking world by St. John Henry Newman. The members of the priestly household freely commit themselves to stable life of warm fraternity, grounded in the simple rule of Gospel charity.

The Lay Oratory

Secondly, it is a lay community, built up around the priestly community, composed of individuals and families who regularly pray with, work with, and receive formation from the priests.

We are convinced that this of mode communal life for both priests and lay-faithful alike can bear immense fruit within our local Church.
